My names Brittney Mary-Ashley and I've been a wedding and

elopement photographer in Vancouver for three years. Before I moved here, I was a photographer based on Vancouver Island where I graduated from Vancouver Island University in 2017 with a Bachelor

of Arts, majoring in visual art. I fell in love with portrait photography when I took courses at VIU and travelled to Poland with my first DSLR camera. Of all the places I've been, Vancouver feels most like home and I'm so excited to be here!

When I'm not at a shoot or editing, I'm usually spending time with friends and family, going out for walks along the seawall, making pancakes or french toast, practicing throwing pottery, or re-watching one of my many favourite tv series (The Office, Broad City, Brooklyn 99, Sex and the City, Curb Your Enthusiasm and Ted Lasso are at the top of the list). 

 

I have a long relationship with creating art and expressing myself through visual media, so naturally I was drawn to photography. There's something so fulfilling about telling people's stories and framing moments in their lives that they'll enjoy reliving time and time again. I also love experimenting with 35mm film which I always offer as an add-on to any session. I love close up details, velvety tones and motion blur a lot at the moment. My interest is always peaked by anything non-traditional!

I work hard in my practice to cultivate a safe and comfortable environment for all of my clients, no matter identification, culture or budget. I love working with everyone and believe that it's important for clients to feel like themselves and to have a fun experience during our time together. I'm always talking, giving posing prompts and cracking jokes, so it's very hard to not have a good time! Expressing self love and taking time to get portraits can help elevate confidence, mental heath and even the feeling of closeness in a relationship. There's no such thing as a silly reason for portraits!

My heart beats for the West Coast and all of it's beauty, including the people. I look forward to capturing sweet moments in your lives and having an amazing time in the process!
